Art Gallery:
While we have an Art Vendor Village, we also present an Art Gallery under our Long Hall for “emerging artists” — those who have never exhibited before and are not (yet) creating art for sale. This is an endeavor to continue to provide our attendees and our local talent a platform upon which to connect in a low-stress situation.
In the spirit of community and inclusion, this is available for all ages — high school students, senior citizens, college students, neighborhood knitting circles, etc.
It is an opportunity for Emerging Artists to put a toe in the water.
The theme for 2026 is “Independence: Your Story — An Artistic Spin on 250 Years“. Interpret and express that theme in your own way.
The Gallery is juried by 3-5 local arts-connected folks in the MAPSO community.
- Painting, photograph, sculpture, fabrics, ceramics, jewelry, etc;
- There is an application process, so our jury can curate a diverse offering; this is NOT a competition; there is no charge to participate and no prizes to award;
- This is NOT a sales opportunity — such that it DOES NOT compete with our ~60 other Arts Vendors selling their wares;
- “Emerging Artists” means those folks of all ages who have not regularly exhibited and sold works prior; this is an opportunity for butterflies to emerge from their cocoons and spread their wings;
- Selected artists will need to show up on the Saturday and Sunday mornings and evening of the festival to hang their art and collect their art to return home; the Art Gallery hours are 11 AM to 6 PM on each Saturday and Sunday of the festival;
- Artists are NOT required to be present during the Gallery, but are are welcome and encouraged to swing by occasionally to converse with viewers about their works or for a photo opportunity;
- The Art Gallery is displayed under THE LONG HALL on the East Field, so rain should not be a concern. And, in the event of a torrential thunderstorm or tornado, the Maplewoodstock Festival is not responsible for any damage;
-
Lastly, while we welcome diverse artistic expression, the jury of the privately funded Maplewoodstock Festival reserves the right to curate artwork that reflects a positive and inclusive spirit. We aim to avoid overly politicized, divisive, or sexualized content, striving to create a welcoming environment for all attendees. Yes; works of art should rightly ask questions and present viewpoints and at times be provocative. And, Maplewoodstock is purposefully devoid of politics, causes, and advocacy so that that our MAPSO community can come together as friends and neighbors. That is NOT intended to “sanitize,” but to not cause undo controversy.
Submissions for for our 2026 festival will be announced in May, and questions or inquiries can be addressed to maplewoodstock.artgallery@gmail.com.
